Busby Seo Challenge

Few more days to go and the Busby SEO Challenge is going to an end. At least for Busby Web Solutions SEO contest only and surely there will be more SEO contests to come.

On the top rankings are the usual entries coming from Europe, Indonesia and the Philippines. These three are really knocking each other down on the search engine for the position with others doing other shady techniques just to pull down their competitors. I guess its just part of the game..

The changes on the rankings for the past days were very exciting with the sphe re team went down again to 2nd position and pogung took the lead until this hour. While imfreaks holding on to its no 3 position.

Pinay speak dot com of the Philippines, in a blink of an eye, came pass to rank 4 which surprised everybody and is now seems to threaten the top entries.

While this entry is still ranking on the 2nd/3rd page, we’re still hoping that our position would still improve on this Busby Seo Challenge.

The Busby SEO Challenge SEO contest just got even more exciting with 15 days to go before the final winner will be declared. Just a week ago sp here team entry fell to no. 3 from the top spot with pogung and imfreaks secured the 1st and the 2nd rankings respectively. But again the spher e team is now gaining momentum to go for the shot at the top just overtook imfreaks the other day for the no. 2 placement. They just can’t lose this contest without a brutal fight considering a lot of them are helping together for a single entry.

One of the highlights of the BUsby SEO Contest on this week was the sudden entry of bayaw.com on the first page considering it just entered the top 100 less than a month ago. The entry moved past a lot of prominent challengers on the first and 2nd page making it the best Filipino entry (so far) on this busby seo challenge.

The top French and the Indonesian entries claimed of being “attacked” by their competitors while could not really pin point exactly who are doing it to them still maintain their composures but it could make their websites be wiped out in a blink of an eye. This is a usual trend on seo contests where the top leaders are being made as subject to attacks to exceed their bandwidths and eventually put their websites down. This is really a nasty way of harming an opponent in a competition which could be unfair but in my opinion it is just part of the game that you need to guard yourself constantly on any possible threat.

The sphe re team is always regarded as the team to be watched out since they were the winner of the previous international seo contest, the seocontest2008, and I will not be surprised if they will get this one too from pogung.

In the meantime this entry is still making its final move to try to at least land on the first page by the next couple of days and then hopefully crawl our way to the top!

It had been a fire issue for the past few days on the Busby SEO Challenge contest about this anonymous “hacker”. Some of the teams were already condemning their fellow contenders about the attack. Pogung 177 and the Sphereteam have both experienced the same attack? Why? Is it because both of them are already on the summit of winning and are in the state of jealousy and envy?

This news is quiet alarming and nerve-racking, because the competing teams are trying so hard just to win but there’s this “idiot” who is trying to wreck us.

Well, we’re just in the middle of fair and square game and we believed that it is just a normal reaction for the team to retort. If this occurrence had happened to us, we could have felt the same way—but never to the point of accusing your co-challengers!!!

And we do agree with Adapti’s comment which stated “Someone who did this is really wrong. He or she should do fair SEO work to win… not like war. Please find and make him learn something.

We just hope that this incidence would not happen again and for the mastermind of hacking, please stop this crap! Or else you will suffer the consequences in the future!

Less than 3 weeks to go and the Busby SEO Challenge contest will come to an end. This time we can now have an idea on who among the top entries that we believe will emerge to the top spot of google on August 31.

One way of speculating it is by checking the no. of back links made by the top ranking entries since google puts a lot of weight on the quantity and the quality of links in ranking sites. Here is what i found using marketleap’s link popularity checker.

Very interesting data indeed with pogung just overtook the lead from sphere team a week ago it has now around 17K+ backlinks compared to sphere’s massive 122K+ backlinks. That’s over a 100K difference!

As I’ve said back links’ weight depends on 2 factors the quantity and the quality with the latter speculated as more superior. But can we really know how many PR 1 links can equate to a one Pr 2 link with all other factors even? I think the best time to experiment on this and produce an approximation is during a recent PR toolbar export update so that pages’ PRs are freshly updated and you can have the closest status of a page’s worth.

It is a bit hard to believe when a site like spheres’ with 100K more links is being outranked by pogung’s site. But of course there are reasons behind this and here are some I can think of.

1. Back links coming from same IPs - I noticed that sphere site has lots of these.

2. Site wide links from forum sites - A large forum site can have hundred thousands of pages. Usually most of the pages from these are not that much of value. Sphere also have lots of links from these sites.

3. Links to sites/pages with no follow tag -

In short a lot of links that sphere team made have no worth at all or useless in SEO.

I’ve been checking some entry sites if the domain age factor in google’s ranking has been taken advantage of by the contestants of the Busby SEO Challenge since the organizers of this contest allowed the use of old domains. To my surprise there are very few who used domain names 2 years old or more. Here are some top site entries and when the sites were created.

As you can see the top rankers’ domain ages are not that really old after all but if you will check their link popularity it would tell us why they are on that current positions. While this entry is a 2001it still needs a lot of back links to be able to compete with the current leaders. This shows that old domain age’s advantage can be subdued by link popularity in google’s ranking preference not just only for this keyword but in general as well. Not much changes on google’s algo on giving more weight on link popularity. So guys, more link building please…

Fruit Engine Team was registered just last 21^st of June 2008 is now on top 47 in the official listings today! July 12, 2008 in search of Busby SEO Challenge keyword phrase.
